I was born and raised in Mark Twain's hometown, Elmira, New York and spent much of my youth in the Catskill Mountains and the wilds of Ontario. I began reading when I was young enough (and small enough) to hide beneath my father's desk and devour my mother's forbidden True Confession magazines. I read Gone With The Wind when I was twelve and was instantly smitten with all things Southern. And romantic. I married my highschool sweetheart (a very romantic guy). We had three kids and eventually moved our family to the Chesapeake Bay region of Virginia, where we bought a circa 1864 farmhouse that is surrounded by woods, water and a Civil War cemetary. We dug in deep and haven't moved since, in spite of being ravished by three hurricanes.
I've been a freelance artist most of my life, specializing in large works on billboards and buildings. I was the first women to work in Engineers at historic Fort Monroe, as a graphic designer and sign painter. I spent many hours in the Casemate, Edgar Allen Poe's old stomping grounds. http://www.hampton.gov/fort_monroe/history.html
My husband and I built a construction company, and my daughter and I owned a children's shop. Through it all, I read, read, read. And I wrote. I started writing during the days of the typewriter, and have novels tucked beneath my bed that will never see the light of day. My short works, including serialized Sci-Fi and Romance, have appeared in national magazines and publications.
I love to read. I love the excitement, angst and drama in novels of Love and Romance. I love to shiver when I read spooky stories. I love to imagine myself in another time and place when I read historical books. I love Horror, Comedy, Mystery and Drama.
I write what I love to read.
I write because I want to entertain others as much as I have been entertained by the thousands of amazing stories that now reside in my mind. Each and every one of them contributed in some small way to the person I am today.
